Purpose of the Position/Whakarāpopototanga
The Trainer Ground Operations is responsible for:
- The delivery of theory and practical training to new and existing Ground Operations employees at Auckland Airport and is a subject matter expert for their nominated client(s) and operational areas within their port.
- The primary focus of the role is to deliver engaging and effective training programs that are aligned with approved operating procedures, processes and policies and that meet the quality standards set out by Swissport and our clients.
- You will be developing front line employees in our airports, enabling our organisation to meet both current and anticipated operational capability requirements and equipping our people with the knowledge and skills they need to deliver safe, efficient and effective operational outcomes for our customers and to provide a safe and reliable passenger experience in the airport precinct.
Tasks & Duties/Ngā momo ngohe
- Create a safe and trusting learning environment where the required training outcomes can be achieved as effectively and efficiently as possible.
- Apply appropriate adult learning techniques and facilitation skills that consider the different learning styles and needs of participants to maximise training outcomes.
- Ensure that training is delivered in a way that is positive and inclusive, always promoting collaboration and participation.
- Conduct Training Administration Reviews and Trainer & Training Quality Reviews to help identify improvements in the quality and effectiveness of training being delivered.
- Undertake the accurate and timely completion and maintenance of training records (paper based and electronic) for all training delivered.
- Identify opportunities to improve the training ‘experience’ for front-line team members and create a culture where learning opportunities are valued and sought after.
- Facilitate the delivery of high quality and effective Swissport and Client training programs in accordance with the operational endorsements, approvals and qualifications held, including:
- Classroom (theory) training and assessments.
- Practical training and ‘Buddy’ Shifts.
- Competency based assessments.
- Supervision, guidance and support of employees completing eLearning training modules.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance in relation to WH&S Act, CASA and OTS and other government regulations, along with all company, airport authority and airline policies and procedures.
- Actively promote full compliance with manual handling practices to reduce the risk of workplace injury.
- Ensure the full range of Human Factors are considered in the delivery of training and consistently strive for a safe and secure workplace.
- Lead by example, demonstrating expected client and Swissport safety leadership behaviours - be a role model for safety and compliance in our airports.
Your profile/Kōtaha Matawhaiaro
- Minimum five years relevant work experience in Training or Supervisory experience in an operational environment
- Extensive operational knowledge of operating procedures, equipment, systems and manuals for the training being delivered.
- Sound understanding of WH&S responsibilities and how these are applicable in a training environment.
- Previous Workplace Trainer or Facilitation skills and experience.
- Experience developing others through coaching and/or buddying.
- Experience in accurately completing and maintaining complex records and documentation.
- Intermediate skills in the Microsoft Office and Google suite of applications.
- Intermediate office administration skills, especially around the accurate completion and management of files, records and other documentation.
- Recognised leadership skills and capability, especially within a dynamic and fast paced operational environment.
- Lead by example and be a role model for our Swissport values and behaviours, fostering a culture that values safety, integrity, equality and fairness, with zero tolerance for bullying, discrimination and harassment.
- Must be available to work variable hours as required (including early starts, late finishes and weekends)
