Collins is looking for a self-motivated, passionate attorney to provide general legal counsel to the Mission Systems business. This role negotiates and influences internal and external parties and represents the organization in complex legal matters. Communicates with top executives regarding matters of critical and strategic importance such as litigation and practice in government, commercial, employment, M&A, anti-trust, environmental, real estate, corporate, intellectual property, contracts and licensing law. Develops strategies to ensure best practices are used when focusing on the achievement of business results through legal action / activities.
This individual will ideally sit onsite at one of our main Collins locations but remote is a possibility.
What You Will Do
Represents company on internal and external legal issues
Acts as a strategic business partner to review, draft, negotiate, and advise on a wide variety of government and commercial agreements to meet business and legal requirements, including OTAs, FAR 15 and FAR 12 agreements, SaaS agreements, master services agreements, licensing agreements, reseller agreements, professional services agreements, spaneting agreements, vendor agreements, and non-disclosure agreements; partner with relevant business stakeholders as necessary
Supports, coaches, and trains contracts, sales, supply chain, quality, engineering, and other functional teams on deal structure, contract negotiations, best practices and maintains playbook of business terms
Continuously improves standard form agreements and legal processes to help scale the legal function
Aids in the development and implementation of processes, procedures, and metrics (including efficient contracting processes) to increase the overall effectiveness of the legal services provided to the company
Provides sound legal and business advice to all functional team members and members of senior management regarding strategic business relationships
Addresses legal risk in business-centric ways, developing processes to solve problems, strengthening partnerships, and advancing opportunities
Experienced in government contract formation (including detailed reviews of solicitation and evaluation documents for source selections)
Understands data rights and other intellectual property issues
Deep knowledge of commercial item terms and conditions necessary for government acceptance
Litigation (primarily bid protests, but also disputes/claims) as it arises
Understands cost accounting issues
Interprets complex laws, rulings, and regulations and provides expertise to individuals and businesses on legal issues to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations
Supports other procurement related legal issues as they arise
Must be willing and able to travel 25 of the time (domestic and international)
Qualifications You Must Have:
Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 14 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 12 years of experience
Juris Doctor Degree from an accredited institution
Admission to the bar of at least 1 US state with the ability to be admitted as In-House Counsel
8+ years experience supporting a range of government contract compliance issues including the FAR, DFARS, Procurement Integrity, Truth in Negotiations Act, Organizational Conflicts of Interest, cost principles and fiscal law
8+ years of experience, including law firm, in-house counsel and/or U.S. Government
Qualifications We Prefer:

Remote: Employees who are working in Remote roles* will work primarily offsite (from home). An employee may be expected to travel to the site location as needed.

The salary range for this role is 176,000 USD - 352,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
