Applies advanced technical skills and knowledge to fabricate, fit, weld, and repair jet engine exhaust components and assemblies per work instructions and tooling to achieve desired levels of cost, quality, and schedule.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Applies welding expertise to fabricate, fit, weld, and repair jet engine exhaust components and assemblies that are moderately complex to complex requiring experience and judgment to determine plans and action from standard procedural alternatives. Works independently and determines own priorities. Performs tasks associated with welding aircraft components. Reviews work instructions, selects and sets up equipment and plans layout, assembly, and welding process. Lays out, positions, aligns, and fits components together. Positions and clamps together components of fabricated metal products preparatory to welding. Welds metal parts together using both gas welding or brazing and any combination of arc welding processes to fabricate or repair aircraft engine structural components and other products. Performs related tasks such as thermal cutting and grinding. Aids and assists other welders to accomplish repairs. Provides training to other team members as necessary. Repairs products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts. Repairs broken or cracked parts, fills holes, and increases size of metal parts. Assembles parts by bolting and riveting. Ancillary Functions and Responsibilities: Performs other duties as required. These duties may include assignments in job classifications other than the primary assignment.
Requirements WELDER A Formal Education, Training and Work Experience: Experience may be substituted for the formal education and training requirements in this section at the discretion of management. Technical school or equivalent practical experience and four (4) to seven (7) or more years of aircraft welding or welding thin gauge aluminum preferably for operational aircraft applications.
