Job Title: CNC Maintenance Technician
Job Description
This role maintains and repairs CNC machinery and mechanical equipment, with a strong focus on Haas UMC 1000 systems, Mazak and Eurotech CNC lathes, and a variety of production and support equipment. The technician performs preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration to ensure reliable, safe, and efficient operation of all assigned equipment.
Responsibilities
- Observe mechanical devices in operation to ensure performance aligns with equipment specifications and production requirements.
- Perform regular preventive maintenance, maintenance, and calibration on CNC equipment, with a particular emphasis on Haas UMC 1000 machines.
- Apply a solid understanding of the setup and operation of lathes, drill presses, grinders, and other metalworking tools in order to maintain and repair such equipment effectively.
- Dismantle machinery and devices to gain access to internal components and remove defective parts safely and efficiently.
- Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements and assess wear or damage.
- Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments to restore proper operation and performance.
- Repair or replace defective parts and components using appropriate tools, methods, and replacement parts.
- Install special functional and structural parts in devices to support upgrades, modifications, or new equipment capabilities.
- Lubricate and clean parts and assemblies to maintain smooth operation and reduce wear.
- Start and test devices after maintenance or repair to verify proper performance and compliance with specifications.
- Assist with the dismantling, relocation, and installation of equipment as needed to support production or facility changes.
- Advise maintenance leadership of parts that need to be ordered to support ongoing maintenance and repair activities.
- Recommend components to be maintained in inventory to minimize equipment downtime and improve responsiveness.
- Evaluate PLCs, PCs, and servo drives by testing with a multimeter, identifying problems, and repairing or replacing components as needed.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics to troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues.
- Follow safety rules, operating procedures, and maintenance instructions while maintaining accurate documentation of work performed.
Essential Skills
- Hands-on maintenance experience with Haas UMC 1000 CNC equipment (required).
- Experience with CNC maintenance and service, including Haas, Mazak, Eurotech CNC lathes, and other CNC machinery.
- Strong knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics as they relate to CNC and production equipment.
- Proficiency in performing preventive maintenance, calibration, and repair on mechanical and CNC systems.
- Ability to understand the setup and operation of lathes, drill presses, grinders, and other metalworking tools for maintenance and repair purposes.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics for troubleshooting and repair.
- Skill in evaluating PLCs, PCs, and servo drives using a multimeter to identify and resolve issues.
- Associate’s Degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or three years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and maintain clear maintenance records.
- Professional written and verbal fluency in English.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to apply basic algebra and geometry in maintenance and repair tasks.
- Ability to solve practical problems and work with a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
- Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Technical school or college back ground in industrial maintenance, mechatronics, or a related field.
- Experience working with conveyor systems, engines, motors, pneumatic tools, and production machines.
- Strong troubleshooting mindset with a focus on minimizing equipment downtime.
- Comfort working both independently and collaboratively within a maintenance team.
- Detail-oriented approach to inspecting parts, documenting work, and following procedures.

Work Environment
The role is based in a production and machining environment with extensive use of CNC equipment, including Haas UMC 1000 machines, Mazak and Eurotech CNC lathes, as well as conveyor systems, engines, motors, pneumatic tools, and other production machinery. The position follows a 1st shift schedule, Monday through Friday, from 5:30 AM to 2:00 PM. Work involves hands-on mechanical and electrical tasks around operating machinery, using tools such as multimeters and various metalworking equipment. The environment emphasizes adherence to safety rules, equipment procedures, and cleanliness around machines and work areas.
