Job Description Summary

The Aircraft Quality Inspector performs a wide range of detailed inspection tasks to support Production, Manufacturing, Engineering, and Aircraft Certification. This position ensures components, systems, and assemblies meet all regulatory, quality, and engineering standards through visual, mechanical, and functional inspection methods. Inspections include detail parts, sub-assemblies, installations, and complete aircraft.

  • Perform visual, mechanical, and functional inspections on parts, subassemblies, systems, and fully assembled aircraft.

  • Conduct testing, calibration, measurements, and systems checks, documenting results for the acceptance or rejection of components and assemblies.

  • Ensure all inspection activities comply with Kodiak and supplier design drawings, CAD models, MRB dispositions, Kodiak Process Specifications, FAA regulations, and other applicable standards.

  • Perform both destructive and non-destructive testing (NDT) as required.

  • Review aircraft and engine logbooks for pilot reports and squawks, verifying that all corrective actions have been completed.

  • Complete buy-back inspections on major items or resolved squawks and sign off logbooks and pilot reports upon completion.

  • Inspect component exchanges and verify compliance with approved work instructions.

  • Write and submit Non-Conforming Material Reports (NMRs) for MRB review and perform re-inspections as needed after corrective actions.

  • Verify the use of approved materials, proper installation procedures, and adherence to aircraft type design requirements.

  • Document and inspect critical flight items, including weight and balance, engine runs, flight control surface balancing and rigging, and provide final “OK to close” approvals.

  • Maintain accurate and thorough inspection records and follow all procedures outlined in the Quality Assurance Manual (QAM).

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Moderate understanding of aircraft manufacturing processes and quality systems required.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and technical skillset essential.

  • 3–5 years of experience in aircraft manufacturing or quality inspection strongly preferred.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

  • High attention to detail with the ability to work quickly and thoroughly in a fast-paced production environment.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions, and regulatory documentation.

  • Familiarity with FAA regulations and aircraft certification requirements.

  • Excellent documentation, communication, and organizational skills.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to work in a manufacturing and hangar environment.

  • Ability to stand for long periods, bend, lift, and maneuver around aircraft.

  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.

  • May involve occasional travel or shift flexibility as needed.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary Range: $22.00 – $35.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
