- Your expertise will contribute to the assembly of aircraft sheet metal assemblies and subassemblies, including stress-critical joints. Your role will require precision in reading and understanding work orders, blueprints, sketches, and operation station sheets, aligning and building assemblies on complex manufacturing jigs, and performing inspections and assessments.
- Aircraft Structures Mechanic: 1st shift from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM or 2nd shift from 3:30 PM to 12:00 AM.
Responsibilities
- Assemble aircraft sheet metal assemblies and subassemblies, including stress-critical joints.
- Read and understand work orders, blueprints, sketches, and operation station sheets.
- Align and build assemblies and subassemblies on large, complex manufacturing jigs and fixtures.
- Countersink, dimple, ream, and chamfer holes on complex structural assemblies with minimal quality defects.
- Use all required hand and power tools effectively, including portable riveting guns, pneumatic guns, drills, counter sinks, rivet shavers, files, reamers, and other necessary tools.
- Perform inspections and assessments of scrap damage, corrosion, or wear and tear of structures.
- Troubleshoot and rework major discrepancies, serving as the primary contact for repairs and modifications.
- Maintain designed tolerances, edge distances, and pitch according to engineering requirements.
- Measure parts with micrometers and calipers to verify dimensions; use check gauges for hole and fastener tolerance inspection.
- Apply sealants on structural components as required per engineering specifications.
- Collaborate with the Production Supervisor and engineering to implement modifications and upgrades.
Essential Skills- High school diploma or GED.
- 5-7+ years of experience at Level III or higher.
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools such as riveting guns, pneumatic drills, torque wrenches, and others.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and engineering drawings.
- Experience with new build aircraft assembly and inventory management.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Experience with forklift operation and material handling.
- Skills in inventory tracking and warehouse inventory management.
- Knowledge of ERP systems and shipping & receiving processes.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $26.00 - $30.00/hr.
