JOB TITLE: Aircraft Structural Mechanic I

Qualifying Questions:
Are you a U.S. person as defined under ITAR regulations? Do you meet the educational and experience requirements for this role? Can you commute to the job location or relocate if necessary?
Summary:
Assemble and fit detail parts and structures; perform drilling and riveting operations
Ensure all work meets FAA requirements, customer specifications, and quality standards
Rivet structural assemblies using all necessary tools (e.g., riveting guns, pneumatic drills, countersinks, files, reamers)
Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, sketches, and operation sheets
Verify completed assemblies are defect-free prior to final inspection
Accurately log work in resource planning systems (e.g., MIR sheets, DMTs, PCOs)
Align and assemble parts using jigs, fixtures, clamps, and other tools
Maintain a clean, organized work area and support 5S and safety initiatives
Work under moderate supervision and support Lean manufacturing activities
Participate in continuous improvement efforts (e.g., YIAW, Kaizen events)
Maintain proper care of tools and equipment
Follow all safety procedures and shop policies
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements: High School Diploma or GED required
Minimum 1 year of structural assembly experience
Experience with Solumina and Smarteam preferred
One year of experience credit may be given to graduates of the Savannah Tech Aircraft Structures Technical Certificate Program
Basic knowledge of aircraft structures, sheet metal work, and fabrication techniques
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and use a 6" scale
Basic computer and shop math skills
Ability to comprehend technical documents and instructions
Strong attention to detail and a professional, hands-on work ethic
Must demonstrate good housekeeping and safety practices
Ability to work with composite resins and materials
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
Ability to climb ladders, stands, and stairs, and work in confined or restricted areas
Must be able to work any shift
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English
Must be a U.S. Person (as defined by ITAR).
