A&P Floor Inspector – Job Description
Position Summary:
The A&P Floor Inspector is responsible for ensuring the safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance of all aircraft maintenance operations on the shop floor. This role involves inspecting airframes, powerplants, and other aircraft components to ensure adherence to aviation standards and internal quality assurance protocols. The Inspector collaborates closely with maintenance personnel to identify discrepancies and support the operational readiness of the fleet.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspection & Compliance
- Conduct thorough inspections of airframes, powerplants, and components during and after maintenance activities.
- Participate in Required Inspection Item (RII) tasks and be billable in Corridor. When not engaged in inspections, assist with hands-on maintenance as needed.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with FAA regulations and internal procedures.
- Document inspection results and discrepancies accurately in maintenance logs and digital systems.
- Identify mechanical, structural, or electrical issues and report them promptly to the appropriate personnel.
Maintenance Oversight:
- Monitor maintenance procedures to ensure technicians follow approved methods and standards.
- Follow up on previously identified discrepancies to confirm proper resolution.
- Participate in internal and external audits to ensure compliance with regulatory and company standards.
- Team Collaboration & Mentorship
- Work closely with A&P mechanics, engineers, and supervisors to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior technicians, promoting best practices in maintenance and inspection.
- Customer Interaction
- Communicate with customers in a professional and respectful manner.
- Provide timely updates to supervisors and customers regarding aircraft status.
- Obtain customer approvals for original, additional, or revised maintenance estimates.
- Coordinate line inspections and ensure proper documentation during aircraft delivery.
- Internal Leadership
- Lead by example through professionalism, integrity, and adherence to company policies.
- Supervise assigned personnel to ensure maintenance is completed in accordance with procedures and regulatory guidelines.
- Conduct regular progress meetings with team members and department heads to address potential risks to project timelines.
- Support skill development among team members through communication, motivation, and accountability.
- Monitor daily performance and adjust plans as needed to meet deadlines and budget constraints.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation throughout the maintenance process.
- Assist with work order reviews, parts requests, and equipment coordination.
- Oversee proper tagging, storage, and organization of aircraft components and tools.
- Enforce safety and housekeeping standards in the hangar and work areas.
- Ensure proper use and accountability of tools and equipment, and address any malfunctions promptly.
- Support program managers with additional operational tasks as required.
Qualifications:
- Experience Minimum 5 years of experience in aircraft maintenance.
- 3 or more years of Inspector experience
- At least 5 years of direct involvement with FAR Part 135 and/or 145 operations.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of FAA regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Adobe, and Corridor.
- Ability to interpret technical aircraft data.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
Licenses & Certifications:
- Valid and current Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certificate (minimum 5 years).
- Valid driver’s license.
- Valid U.S. passport.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $95000.00 - $105000.00/yr.
