Purpose:
The Sales Engineer is responsible for supporting the sales and technical proposal process for VIP aircraft completions, specializing in Inflight Entertainment (IFE), Cabin Management Systems (CMS), Cabin Interiors, and avionics integration. This role serves as a critical liaison between the customer, engineering, production, and program management teams. The Sales Engineer helps translate complex customer requirements into actionable technical solutions and cost estimates while ensuring compliance with FAA Part 145 requirements and internal capabilities.
Essential Job Functions:
- Partner with the Sales and Program Management teams to develop detailed technical proposals, estimates, and customer presentations for interior completions and system upgrades.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on IFE, CMS, avionics systems, and VIP interior integration throughout the sales lifecycle.
- Evaluate customer specifications and aircraft configurations to determine feasibility and develop recommended solutions.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Supply Chain, and Production to define scope of work, labor estimates, and bill of materials (BOM).
- Assist in preparing and reviewing Statements of Work (SOW), change orders, and cost justifications for modifications and completions.
- Conduct technical presentations and support customer discussions during the proposal and design phases.
- Collaborate with OEMs, vendors, and internal teams to ensure alignment of product offerings with customer needs and aircraft platforms (e.g., BBJ, ACJ, Gulfstream).
- Support transition from sales to program execution, including participation in design reviews, kickoff meetings, and documentation handoff.
- Track industry trends, technologies, and regulatory changes related to IFE, CMS, avionics, and cabin completions.
- Provide input for marketing materials and trade show representation as a technical expert.
Minimum Qualifications or Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Aviation Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in aviation sales engineering, completions, or systems integration.
- Familiarity with FAA Part 145 Repair Station regulations.
- Working knowledge of aircraft interior systems and avionics.
Preferred Qualifications or Experience:- Masters’ Degree.
- 15+ years of experience in VIP/VVIP aircraft completions or large-cabin retrofit projects.
- Experience with IFE/CMS systems from major OEMs (e.g., Collins, Honeywell, Lufthansa Technik, Gogo).
- Prior technical proposal development or cost estimating experience in an MRO or completions environment.
- Familiarity with BBJ, ACJ, or Gulfstream platforms and their associated systems.
Supervisory Responsibilities:This position does not have any direct supervisory responsibilities.
