Our Connected Aviation Solutions (CAS) – Air Traffic Solutions - Systems Engineering Department has immediate career opportunities for talented Systems Engineers to join a team developing and supporting several of our Air Traffic Control Systems worldwide. Our programs are safety-of-life air traffic management systems developed for the FAA and international Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs) utilized by air traffic controllers controlling both civil and military aviation. This is an exciting opportunity to learn new Commercial off-the-Shelf (COTS) products, tools, processes, and methodologies as you focus on improving your skills to support, design, develop, integrate, and test operational software components throughout the Agile systems development life cycle.
What You Will Do
- Will work with the Collin’s team to help the customer understand our products and help develop potential Engineering opportunities
- Will work with Vendors and Program Managers and Business Development to shape future and support current customer solutions.
- Define and derive system engineering requirements, including interface definitions and requirement verification and validation procedures.
- Support operations concept definition and procedure planning, collaborating with personnel from various organizations.
- Be responsible for making, supporting and aiding in deploying complex fixes to solve problems or create substantial enhancements in the AutoTrac Product Lines.
- Address customer issues by aiding the developing system and product-level requirements, ensuring effective solutions.
- Help create sell-off criteria to effectively verify requirements and ensure project success.
- Play a key role in modernizing air traffic control systems, making a significant impact on air traffic management worldwide.
- Work collaboratively with the vendors and the rest of the engineering team and leadership to support cost and schedule.
- Travel to various company and customer locations

Qualifications You Must Have - Minimum of 8 years prior experience in systems engineering, including but not limited to expertise in requirements decomposition, flow-down, system integration and test.
- Prior experience with IBM Dynamic Object-Oriented Requirements System (DOORS), Atlassian Jira and Confluence, and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Prior experience generating and delivering technical documentation to stakeholders, including drafting, reviewing, and updating materials.
- Knowledge of Unix and/or Red Hat Linux, SQL, and MATLAB.
- Hands-on experience setting up COTS HW, network equipment and installing system software.
- Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), unless prohibited by local laws/regulations, and a minimum 8 years prior relevant experience. Alternatively, an Advanced Degree in a related field, or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience.
Qualifications We Prefer
- Experience with Air Traffic Control Automation systems.
- Previous role as a Technical Engineer for large scale systems
- Willingness to work in a highly collaborative team environment, requiring frequent multi-level communication with other engineering domains, program management, and stakeholders.
- Experience with commercial or open-source test automation tools, environments, and frameworks such as Jenkins, Grafana dashboards, Gherkin/Cucumber, Selenium, CUnit/Junit, kickstart.
- Knowledge of Agile, continuous development/continuous integration (CD/CI), and automated testing concepts. Familiar with Test Driven Development (TDD).
- Familiar with database, database schemas, Entity Relationship models. Preferably has worked with a relational database such as Oracle/Postgress/SQL Server.
- Familiarity with advanced memory management and multi-threading techniques supportive of real time processing of large volumes of data.
- Availability, when needed, during off-hours in support of internationally located customers and colleagues.
- Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) using Cameo involves the use of advanced modeling techniques to design, analyze, and manage complex systems throughout their lifecycle. In this role, the candidate will leverage Cameo Systems Modeler to create and maintain system models that represent the architecture, behavior, and requirements of a system. The ideal candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that system designs align with stakeholder needs and engineering specifications, using MBSE principles to improve efficiency and reduce errors in the development process. Expertise in SysML (Systems Modeling Language) and proficiency with Cameo’s tools are essential to facilitate seamless integration, verification, and validation of system designs.
