Job Description:

We are looking for a Fuel Systems Placement Student to join our Airbus Protect Sustainability Team in Filton.

Airbus Protect is a multi disciplinary Engineering Consultancy, specialising in Sustainability, Safety and Cyber technologies. Within the Sustainability Team, we help clients to minimise environmental impact through sustainable design, resource efficiency and responsible operations. Beyond environmental regulations and compliance, we our clients’ resilience and readiness for the future through our knowledge of industrial processes, products and infrastructure.

Within the Fuel system Design team, our work predominantly focuses on ZEROe (Hydrogen Fuel System) and Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) R&T projects, including production aircraft certification, verification and validation, supplier requirement definition, sub system, equipment and architecture design amongst other activities. 

Our work includes… 

• A wide variety of tasks related to all phases of the fuel system design lifecycle from initial concept through to extended service goal. 

• Expertise in the design, development, certification and continued safe operation of fuel systems and fuel inerting systems in Fixed Wing Aircraft, using Kerosene, Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and Research into Cryogenic Hydrogen Fuel Systems. This also includes leading activities which advance the project on behalf of the customer.   

We have an exciting opportunity to  develop your skills and knowledge in the development of aircraft and the fuel that will drive our Net Zero ambitions, working on R&T projects such as ZEROe, Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and the next generation of Aircraft. 

Furthermore, you will get the opportunity to also be involved in all emerging themes in the fields of LCA, eco-design and  decarbonisation challenges, utilising the extensive training available and the international experts within our team.

For this role we need candidates who are studying towards a degree related to Aeronautical or Aerospace Engineering.

Our placements are open to Undergraduates only. Therefore it is mandatory for candidates to be an undergraduate for the whole duration of the placement. Please inform your graduation date on your application.

Desired skills and qualifications

We are looking for candidates with the following experience:

• You are an enrolled full time student student within Aerospace Engineering or related fields

• Language Skills: fluent in English

• You have basic knowledge with AI tools

• You are a team player, have good analytical skills, and are able to work independently. You particularly like to familiarize yourself with new topics.
