The Boeing Company is looking for an Associate Software Engineer - Embedded to join the BKETC ESV, Embedded and System SW team in the Boeing Korea Engineering and Technology Center (BKETC) located in Seoul, Seoul, Korea, Republic of. This position will focus on supporting the Enterprise Software Verticals (ESV) organization.
In this role, you will contribute to the development, testing and integration of the embedded Linux platform for avionics systems. The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative working environment and is committed to customer satisfaction and process improvement. Additionally, the candidate possesses critical thinking skills to resolve complex problems and should be eager to work with and learn new technologies. This is a highly visible, multi-year strategic effort that impacts all areas of the enterprise.
Position Responsibilities
Develop kernel modifications, kernel modules and hypervisor implementation
All software engineering lifecycle activities applied to FAA certifiable Linux OS to include: high and low level software requirements development, software architecture, software design, software development, and requirements based testing / verification for Boeing programs.
Work with enterprise and International R&D centers in United States and other countries.
Work for development and certification of complex open-source software components into a DO-178C-certified software system
Assists with review, analysis, and translation of customer requirements into the design of software products for embedded devices and systems.
Supports building and writing code for embedded systems software to run on specific specialized hardware.
Supports implementation of current and emerging technologies, tools, frameworks, and changes in regulations relevant to software development and hardware technologies.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering discipline is required
Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering discipline experience or minimum 3 to 5 years’ related relevant work experience
3+ years of experience in the C programming language.
3+ years of experience in Linux development environment.
3+ years of experience in projects related to embedded and/or Linux kernel.
3+ years of experience in software engineering lifecycle including requirement analysis, design, code, integration and testing.
Expertise in Linux Kernel internals and implementation principles.
Experience with DO-178C or equivalent software development in other safety product industries
Proper English communication skill in verbal and written
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
Experience with embedded real-time operating system such as Wind River VxWorks, Green Hills Integrity or others.
Understanding of virtualization technologies, including hardware type 1 virtualization.
Experience with open source software development, Development and submission of patches.
Knowledge of specification format requirements, guidelines, and change control processes. Understanding of relationship between specifications/standards and aircraft/product certification systems.
Knowledge of general and real-time software development and testing tools, capability and usage. Real-time tool examples include cross compilers, target debuggers and test/performance instrumentation.
Knowledge of real-time target environments, including processor and network architectures, communication protocols, simulation frameworks and electrical interfaces. Ability to build, integrate and troubleshoot software components.
Knowledge of software architecture and design methodologies. Ability to synthesize software architectures and designs that meet requirements, characteristics and constraints.
Work Location
Onsite - This position is expected to be 100 onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
