Minimum Education
- I (Grade 8) AS in Electronic Technology or equivalent Military training and or 1year simulation experience.
- II (Grade 9) AS in Electronic Technology or related field, and or equivalent military/civilian training with a minimum of two years’ experience.
- III (Grade 10) AS in Electronic Technology or related field, and or equivalent military/civilian training with a minimum of four years’ experience
- Senior (Grade 11) Associate degree or equivalent from two year college or technical school and a minimum of eight years’ experience in the “II” technician position. Knowledge and expertise for this level results from a minimum of 8 years in the technician “II” position, and the demonstrated ability of the person to successfully fulfill “all” the requirements listed in the skills matrix for the Sr.
Minimum Experience
- CLM I (Grade 8) – Entry Level; applies fundamental principles and concepts. Performs routine tasks. Progresses to more varied and complex activities with development of additional knowledge and experience in the subject area. Participates in subject matter training as required to gain complex skills.
- CLM II (Grade 9) – Intermediate Level; performs more varied and difficult aspects of position compared to Entry Level. At this level the teammate has less latitude than a Senior Technician in terms of decisionmaking and unreviewed actions. However, this level requires a considerable grasp of the subject matter principles and concepts. Participates in subject matter training as required to gain more complex skills.
- CLM III (Grade 10) – Intermediate Level; performs more varied and difficult aspects of position compared to Entry Level. At this level the teammate has less latitude than a Senior Technician in terms of decisionmaking and unreviewed actions. However, this level requires a considerable grasp of the subject matter principles and concepts. Participates in subject matter training as required to gain more complex skills.
- CLM Senior (Grade 11) – Advanced Level; subject matter expert across all control loading and motion system platforms (hydraulic and electric). Assists with design changes, special projects and mentors grades 8 and 10. Must be familiar with the CLM software environment to be able to make changes as needed. This position may require the teammate to be “on call” for issues that arise in the field and or travel on short notice for such trips. This position is usually attained through years of experience.

- Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.
- (Grade 10/11) Must be familiar with Visual Studio, Beyond Compare, DOS, UNIX and data acquisition systems.
- Basic computer operation, software setup, networking, electronic testing equipment (Multimeters, oscilloscopes, signal generators and power supplies), hand tools (drills, air tools, torque wrenches, force gauges), soldering equipment and crimping tools. A strong mechanical inclination recommended.
- Should be familiar with the following test equipment for grades 10/11: Power monitoring equipment and bus/disturbance analyzers.
- Fluency in English, through both verbal and written communications; able to read, speak, or write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; Able to effectively present information in one on one or small group presentations.
- Able to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume; Able to apply concepts of basic algebra.
- Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; Able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Valid Drivers License and passport where applicable.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally lift and or move up to 75 pounds, and move up to 2500 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to risk of electrical shock. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is sometimes loud.
