Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Avionics Technician to perform C checks on multiple incoming KC-135 aircrafts, based on the Boeing 707 platform, as part of a 20-plane fleet. This role requires advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems, often beyond the scope of manufacturers manuals. You will be tasked with determining circuit locations and densities, evaluating electromagnetic radiation, isolating malfunctions, and implementing engineering changes.

Responsibilities

  • Apply advanced technical knowledge to troubleshoot and solve complex avionics problems.
  • Install, test, troubleshoot, and repair aircraft avionics and electrical system components.
  • Perform maintenance, repair, modification, installation, and testing tasks on aircraft.
  • Determine the sequence for installing, removing, maintaining, repairing, or fabricating critical aircraft components or systems.
  • Perform testing, rework, and repair in various fields of specialization.
  • Use shop theory and skills to accomplish assigned tasks from incomplete engineering data, blueprints, and instructions.
  • Construct, troubleshoot, calibrate, adjust, test, and maintain complex aircraft equipment.
  • Notify lead personnel or supervision of malfunctions, defects, and damages.
  • Recommend and implement continuous improvement activities in production methods and team effectiveness.
Essential Skills
  • KC-135 experience is mandatory.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience preferred.
  • Experience working in a 145 repair station performing C checks or heavy maintenance.
  • Background in flight line pre/post-flight systems checks is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and electrical modification.
  • Experience with rigging, crimping, terminations, and routing.
  • Ability to use manual hand tools such as crimpers, strippers, wire cutters, heat shrink gun, etc.
  • Experience performing new modifications/testing.
  • Experience implementing or developing new test procedures.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • A&P certification.
  • Must have a toolbox shadowed and sign a tool inventory sheet.

Work Environment

The role is most likely a 1st shift opportunity but may require 2nd shift work depending on project demands. You will work in a non-climate controlled hangar, which has been newly renovated. The current schedule involves working five 10-hour days with some Saturday work, depending on project requirements and deadlines. Please note the dress code requires facial hair no longer than the chin, and long hair must be hidden if past the shoulders.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $40.00/hr.
