TASTO is the organization in charge of designing, developing and delivering Training and Operations Support solutions required by Airbus Defence and Space Customers to operate efficiently and safely their Airbus military aircraft. In the frame of Operations Support solutions, and in order to achieve its mission, TASTO is responsible for providing the Flight Operations Manuals that the aircraft is flied with, as well as the Operations Support Services required to contribute to aircraft mission availability and mission success.
In order to retain TASTO capabilities to support upcoming Programs and with a dedicated specialisation in Flight Operations Support and Flight Operations Manuals, with the end user in the centre of our activity, TASTO has opened this position.
B. Main Activities and Accountabilities
The job holder of this position will be in charge of ensuring that Flight Operations Manuals related to A330 MRTT (namely those related to flight crew and cabin crew) are produced and delivered OTOQOC, in accordance with relevant Program Directives and with the expectations on the end user side, whilst ensuring that the Operators voice is heard and drives the required changes. Likewise, Flight Operations Support requested by the Operators must be delivered at the same level of quality and of performance, with a direct link with the content and arrangement of the information given in the said Publications.
In order to achieve this target, he/she will perform his/her functions by:
- Acting as product responsible in front of the Customer and the organization, leading and supporting as required any technical discussion related to A330 MRTT Flight Operations Manuals.
- Leading and coordinating a team of subcontracted authors to produce and maintain the relevant technical content of the said manuals.
- Acting as principal Subject Matter Expert (SME) of A330 MRTT technical topics, current and future, instructing the team of authors as required, and supervising the technical content related in the corresponding Operational Publications.
- When necessary, performing the technical authoring of the said manuals: producing technical content in regular (basic, planned) revisions or in unplanned revisions of Flight Operations Manuals.
- Participating in the development and/or validation and/or verification of the aircraft systems related content of the manuals under his/her responsibility and supporting Training Organization and Design Functions when possible and required in order to achieve the proper functions of the systems.
- Supporting essential activities of Operational Support related (but not limited) to the aircraft systems, therefore contributing to effective and efficient responses to Service Requests from the Operators and to the creation of Flight Operations Transmissions (FOTs) and Flight Operations Briefing Notes related to such systems.
- Managing the corresponding products at Publications and at Operational Support levels, in coordination with the corresponding Managers at TASTO and in coordination with external subcontractors: Design Office, Flight Test organization, subcontractors, suppliers, etc. Developing and implementing Project Management Plan, defining the required work packages in terms of scope, quality requirements, timescales and risks management, to meet the Programmes requirements and the applicable quality and regulatory standards, as applicable. This leads to OTOCOQ products for which he/she will be responsible for.
- Engaging with the Customer in Workshops, Working Groups, Webinars, Conferences, Entry-into-Service process, Operational Visits as required and acting not only as SME of the Mission Systems of our aircraft but also as Flight Operations Support engineer. Supporting and/or leading the related forums as required.
- Ensuring the know-how is retained in TASTO and secured for the future, therefore training others within TASTO and supporting Training Organization as required.
C. Competences required
Educational Qualifications
- Engineering degree or Flight Operations experience in the related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in Flight Operations Publications or Support domains.
Technical skills:
- Demonstrated experience in team management, preferably in topics related to Flight Operations.
- Demonstrated Project Management experience.
- Demonstrated experience as technical author.
- Demonstrated experience and proficiency in the use of Airbus authoring tools such as ADOC for Flight Operations or FODM.
- Sound knowledge of Airbus Defence and Space military systems within A330 MRTT program.
- Demonstrated experience in Flight Operations Support deliverables definition and production.
Professional skills:
- Excellent negotiation and presentation skills.

- Leadership
- Ability to identify key issues.
- Advanced Spanish and Advanced English required. French would be an asset.
- Project Management skills.
- Mission and Customer oriented. Understanding the requirements and needs of the military Customer, and transfer them into system and product functionalities is a must.
- Technical authoring with Airbus GOLD, definition of Flight Operations procedures.
